The Storm Robotics team traveled to Nashville, Tennessee and competed in a tournament sponsored by the National Society of Black Engineers. The competition represented 6 Regions throughout the United States and consisted of 16 teams. The Storm kids had showcased their skills locally, but never on a national stage. The kids got an opportunity to compete in the events, but they also attended workshops such as black girls in engineering, how to design a software application, etc. Some of the high school kids were able to interview for internships with major corporations, such as Google, Boeing, Cisco, IBM, etc. Our middle school kids competed in three events and the results are as follows:

Best Robot Design, 1st Place

Robot Game, 4th Place

Innovative Project, 2nd Place

March 18th is Prince Georges Storm Youth Association Day
On March 18th, the Jr. PeeWee National Championship team was honored for representing Prince Georges County in becoming the first County team to win an AYF National Championship. During this meeting that was held with the media (Channel 4, Channel 5, Channel 7, and Channel 8), the County Executive, Rushern Baker recognized the work the Storm performs on the field, in the classroom, and through outreach activities in the County. Mr. Baker issued a proclamation naming March 18th as Prince Georges Storm Youth Association Day.
